What does it take to warm your HEART!!!!

Did you know that even the smallest increase in physical activity, the difference between taking an elevator or climbing the stairs, lowers your risk for developing heart disease? Small doses of exercise are especially important to neutralize anxiety, stress and worry. As the weather warms the opportunity to get out and begin a walking program presents itself to each of us.

Exercise bolsters the immune system defenses against illness and triggers the increased production of your body's natural healthy agents that ward off potential illness. Research actually suggests that too much exercise or exercise pushed to the point of stress increases a substance known to depress the ability of immune cells to do their job.

Yes I said depress, the key we each need to look for to deliver the health benefits and mental clarity we all long for, is MODERATION. Truth be know we are in an epidemic of physical inactivity. The center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that nearly 60% of Americans, eighteen and older, are sedentary "COUCH POTATOES".

That means 60% of us are at greater risk for heart problems, hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis, and that dreaded word, cancer.

Did you know that 250,000 Americans die yearly because of illnesses related to inactivity?

Here are 4 lifelong practices for health and well-being.

WAKE UP
Wake up to the mind-body connection and don't let negative thoughts be in charge of your day. Stay away from revisiting the past or seeking reliable sources of sadness. Start recording 5 things a day that you are grateful for, I call this a gratitude list. This will warm your HEART!!

EXERCISE
Exercise stimulates the release of chemicals of well-being. Maintaining a regular routine as we age helps to stave off cognitive decline. Your busiest days are the days you need to exercise the most. This will warm your HEART!!

EAT A BALANCED DIET
Food feeds your body, your brain and you MOOD. Balancing protein and carbs gives your body adequate nutrition and stimulates serotonin. This will warm your HEART!!

SING AND LAUGH OUT LOUD!!!!

All sound carries a vibration. The resonant sounds you create while singing can have a powerful effect on your mind and body. The vibration moves the fluid in the inner ear and signals the brain. Our inner ear fluid is responsible for our sense of balance-thus singing and laughter can bring the brain and body into balance. This will definitely warm your HEART!!
